PUCCA

Funny love abounds as dedicated ninja student Garu is pursued by adoring fan Pucca, whose sweet nature disguises an unstoppable force! The series chronicles the adventures of Pucca, the daughter of a Chinese restaurant owner, and her comical and single-minded pursuit of her one true love, Garu. Her uniquely contrasting traits of giggly girlish charms and incredible superpowers aid her in her mission to attain her unrequited love for Garu, who's more interested in becoming a ninja than he is in Pucca.

Geared towards kids 6-11, this humorous and charming action series combines 3D and Flash animation. The recipient of two Leo Awards, celebrating excellence in British Columbian film and television (for Best Screenwriting in Animation Program or Series and for Best Overall Sound in an Animation Program or Series), "PUCCA" is based on the internationally known, award-winning Pucca merchandise brand and internet short. The series will join the Jetix schedules all over the world beginning in Fall 2006, airing for the first time in the United States. Jetix is a joint kids programming alliance around the world that features original, acquired and library action/adventure/comedy series including the phenomenally popular "Power Rangers." JETIX programming reaches a combined 270 million television households in 80 countries and 25 languages.

Boo Kyoung Kim & Calvin Kim are the series' creators/executive producers. Blair Peters (Disney's "Might Ducks," Disney's "Timon & Pumbaa") also serves as executive producer.

Pucca's physical, sometimes over zealous pursuit of Garu is often softened by her charming nature and endearing antics. But she can instantaneously transform into a powerhouse of invincible martial arts skills. Legend has it that as a baby she accidentally consumed a stolen magic potion. However, Garu has no time for the frivolous Pucca as he battles invading ninjas and protects his village.

Besides having an insatiable appetite for her family restaurant's famous Ja Jang noodles, ten year-old Pucca possesses an obsessive love for Garu, the serious, 12 year-old Ninja boy. Cheerfully, Pucca helps run the restaurant with her 3 Chef guardians, who constantly give her misguided advice on life and love.

Reserved and serious, Garu plans to become a Ninja master to restore his family's name after his father, a great warrior faithful to the King, was wrongly dishonored and destroyed. Orphaned at any early age, Garu is accompanied only by Mio, his faithful Ninja cat, and Abyo, his self-absorbed best friend. His special martial arts skills include: mastery of disguise, where he can transform into a human-looking animal or object; lighting leaps (but, of course, Pucca can jump higher); he can replicate himself to confuse the enemy; and he can disappear with a poof leaving only his ninja outfit.

Though they may look like kitchen thugs, the three chefs of Ja Jang Chinese Restaurant are culinary geniuses. Trained by Pucca's father, they are also Pucca's trusted guardians while he searches the world for unknown cooking innovations.

While Garu seeks to battle the myriad of bad guys that crosses his path, Pucca seeks to win his love and will stop at nothing, including using her superior martial arts skills to aid her in her quest.

In Pucca's wacky world, anything is possible!

The voice cast is Tabitha St. Germaine ("My Little Pony: The Princess Promenade") as Pucca; Brian Drummond ("Clash of the Titans") as Garu; Michael Dobson ("X-Men: Evolution") as Ho; Shannon Chan-Kent ("Madeline: My Fair Madeline") as Chief; Lee Tockar ("Barbie: Mermaidia") as Dada; and Dale Wilson ("X-Men: Evolution") as Linguini.

The series is produced by Studio B. Productions in association with Jetix Europe.
