Skyrunners
Kelly Blatz (of the hit Disney XD series "Aaron Stone") and newcomer Joey Pollari, star in Disney XD's original movie, "Skyrunners," a science fiction adventure. When brothers Nick and Tyler Burns discover a fallen UFO near their town, they uncover an ominous alien plot to take over earth.
The movie is executive-produced and written by Richard C. Okie ("Quantum Leap" and "Earth: Final Contact") and directed by Ralph Hemecker ("Witchblade"). The alien creature effects were designed by Weta Workshop Ltd., the multiple Academy Award-winning leader in special makeup, creature and visual effects ("The Lord of the Rings" trilogy, "King Kong" and "The Chronicles of Narnia" films).
The story begins as Nick and Tyler navigate typical teen issues in high school. Nick works on juggling schoolwork with his crush on the beautiful Julie Gunn. Meanwhile, younger brother Tyler is the newbie who's an easy target for upperclassman ridicule. Though awkward, Tyler is wise beyond his years and is usually the more mature of the two brothers.
On their way home from school, Tyler and Nick discover a UFO that has crashed near their town. They soon realize it is "alive" and begin to communicate with the spacecraft. Soon Tyler develops superhuman abilities and the brothers are being pursued by the enigmatic Agent Armstrong of the National Space Security Command.
While Nick is preoccupied with Julie, Tyler grapples with his new superhuman powers. He develops a special bond with the spacecraft and when ominous aliens plot to take over the Earth, Tyler tries unsuccessfully to warn Nick. With no one to turn to, Tyler reaches out to Agent Armstrong but regrets his decision when extraterrestrials kidnap him and damage the spacecraft.
Now, it's up to Nick to fix the UFO so he can rescue his brother and save Earth from destruction.
The cast also includes Linda Kash ("Cinderella Man" and Disney Channel's "Full-Court Miracle") as the loving mom who suspects something is being kept from her, Conrad Coates ("Kyle XY") as the mysterious Agent Armstrong, Jacqueline MacInnes Wood ("The Bold and the Beautiful") as Nick Burns' beautiful crush Julie Gunn and Nathan Stephenson ("Degrassi: The Next Generation") as Julie's intimidating ex-boyfriend.
The movie carries a TV-PG parental guideline.
